The HEART OF AMERICA MINIATURE EQUINE, (HAME), club was organized by a group of people from the Peoria, Illinois area in February 1981. The first member, Lowell Boone had the vision to create a group, full of people that shared the same dedication to the miniature horse breed. In the beginning the club would take turns meeting at each others houses around Peoria, but soon enough the club grew and grew even out to neighboring states. The meetings were hosted in Wisconsin too.
The first HAME miniature horse show was put together by Bob and Cloe Rehdantz, located in Portage, Wisconsin in 1985. Other locations of the shows were Manitowoc and Marshfield, Wisconsin, later moving to the Boone County Fairgrounds in Belvidere, Illinois where it continues to be held now.
The HAME FUTURITY was formed by Lowell Boone & Cloe Rehdantz around late 1985. The purpose of the Futurity program was to encourage breeding of quality stock, which it still does to this day.
